(3/27) Memorable Quotes

Chapter(s) #

Prompt:
I personally love the quote found on page 170: Every human being on the face of the earth has a steel plate in his head, but if you lie down now and then and get as still as you can, it will slide open like elevator doors, letting in all the secret thoughts that have been standing around so patiently, pushing the button for a ride to the top.  The real troubles in life happen when those hidden doors stay closed for too long."

  1. "you only have one life. live it." is a qoute i like because it is very straight forward and self explanatory. if you dont live up your life to the fullest potential, then youre not living.

  2. For me, a quote that I really enjoy has a few versions. The two most famous ones are: “How can I think outside the box if I have to color inside the lines” and “How can I think outside the box if I work in a cube.” Both of the authors of these quotes are unknown for me; however I heard the first one from Marco Guevara. ^_^
Both of these quotes have a message that says about how people are encouraging us to be creative and spontaneous, but also contradict themselves by giving us disciplinary rules that limit our creative ability. The first version contradicts a wide-known and accepted saying with another accepted saying which proves that society contradicts itself. In the second version, the “cube” represents people that work in those mindless office buildings with a billion windows in cubicles. Those people are associated with blandness and monochrome which limits the creative thinking of the mind.
This can be found in the book Matilda by Roald Dahl because Matilda has parents that enforce strong disciplinary rules that limit her aspiring creative mind. They incessantly keep putting her down and making fun of her for reading books and studying.

  3. “Sometimes we just have to accept that some people are going to stay in our hearts forever, even if we aren't in theirs.” This has always been one of my favorite quotes, and I’m happy that I get the chance to explain how I believe it relates to me and Lily’s lives entirely. When I first started reading the novel, I thought of this quote immediately. Lily will always love her father, even if she denies it, or is hurting so much because of his lack of love back, in the end, he is her dad and she loves him. I’ve learned that some people that you may give your all to, and be there with them for anything, might not reciprocate your love. The people who do notice? Are the people who should have the spots in your heart, not the ones that have no idea what they’re missing by not being there for you too. Lily realized this in the book, by leaving her dad and staying at the pink house. It’s not that she doesn’t love her dad, or she wouldn’t care if something happened to him, it’s the fact that she realized he doesn’t deserve her to keep trying and putting all her effort into a person who her whole life has only brought her down. The women and Zach at the pink house are the people Lily should be giving her heart too. She demonstrated her emotions toward her father when she wrote that letter that she wasn’t even planning on sending, and wanted to write one saying sorry, even though her dad wouldn’t read either anyways. It’s evident that her father will always have a place in her heart and she wouldn’t want to cause him pain. The question here is, is Lily in T. Rays heart too?

  4. My significant quote that pertains to much of what is said today is, “There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.”-William Shakespeare. This quote I think is one quote I be devoted to is because the quote is simply factual. This quote is about perspective and what you decide is what you think about something when giving opinions. Opinions and the quote said by William Shakespeare share an affiliation with each other because if have an outlook or judgment on something it’s can either be right or wrong based on perspective. I remember all the times I have passed judgments on things like food and saying if it’s superior/excellent tasting or dire. William Shakespeare never be more accurate or precise on approaching upon this eminent quote. Personally, I think this quote is my preferred quote according to my fondness on it and that within itself is an opinion that pertains to the quote. All decision making that involves a an response of good or bad is perspective or your overall perception of things and I admire that.
